How to Run a Groupage Cargo in SIFAX Terminal Port & Cargo (Nigeria)

The process of running a groupage in SIFAX is quite interesting and stressful, Agent will have to apply for a value by typing a letter with a valid agency letter headed paper containing the necessary information and descriptions which will be submitted until the unit receives an examination report confirmation from the examination officer with the endorsement of the O/C of the group.

Meanwhile after the submission, agent will look for a groupage examination officer and the D/C group examination officers for a combined examination at the SIFAX warehouse where your cargo is been dropped.

These will be done to confirm the cargo description and the actual weight of the cargo, after the examination has been established, the examiners will take their reports to their various offices.

Agents must keep an eye and monitor his or her document in order to know when and where it is been taking.

-Tips for a professional custom Agents/Broker

After the groupage officer has written his or her report, it will be submitted to the releasing officer of the group for a proper confirmation and endorsement from the O/C group before it will be dispatched to the valuation unit.

Agent will approach the valuation unit to bid for a value that will be payed as a duty for your cargo, now if the invoice value presented is lower to the one in their tariff by HS code, then the higher one is most likely to be used.

In this case the custom officer is left to decide on which value to give, followed by the confirmation stamp and signatory of the necessary officers.

After the valuation has been accomplished, the agent will now approach the agency cafe to capture or punch with the document given from the valuation. most importantly, the bill of lading and the valuation given because the puncher will sight and confirm it before capturing.

We offer you the most fastest clearing delivery within the maximum of  3 to 4 working days for groupage cargoes (LCL), Direct shipment (FCL)containerized 4 to 5 working days, excluding shipment.

A printout and assessment note will be given immediately after capturing, you will make a copy of the assessment note to make payment at the bank for the value of your cargo. then before you leave the bank, an NCS payment acknowledgment receipt which contains the A-no and the total duty payed with some necessary information will be given to be attached with the custom releasing document.

Furthermore, agent will then go back to the office that previously dispatch his or her document to the valuation unit for a custom release.
After releasing, a confirmation will be sent to where you will obtain SIFAX exit note, at the first floor(up). this will be attached with the documents for shipping company releasing.

After you're through with the customs release which will be done by anybody on the authority of the agency used, then you will go to the gate to submit for disc and other registrations before it will be dispatched to the O/C gate for final signing.

After that has been achieved, then you can book for loading of your cargo. after booking, you will go back to the warehouse with your lorry OR container for loading of your cargo. at loading point, your documents will be thoroughly checked before loading.

After loading as been achieved, then you will approach the exit gate for last confirmation by presenting your document for final check before you can exit the final gate.

Process might take 4-5 working days due to some unnecessary delay by the customs.
