Customs Warns Hackers to Stay Off e-Auction Platform – Official

The Nigeria Customs Services (NCS) is seriously warning any deceitful bidders required in making unreasonable offers to stay off its e-auction platform or will be dealt with.

Mr Joseph Attah, the Customs Public Relations Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja that the administration would not be fair with any undesirable components making deceitful and doubtful offers with the mindset of scamming bidders on the platform.

As indicated by him, the Customs has commence the act of reprogramming the platform to deny any false bidders from accessing the platform in order not to discourage other genuine bidders.
Attah said the second batch of 48 hours bidding process that begun on Monday at noon and finished on Wednesday afternoon was around 115 vehicles and all were bidded for and probably won.

From our experience, we uncovered that some terrible components who are criminal intentions have propelled into launched into platform only to bid unrealistic figures just to blackmail the excise.
Mr Joseph Atah

We offer you the most fastest clearing delivery within the maximum of 2 to 3 working days for saloon cars, containerized 4 to 5 working days, excluding shipment @ transdelivery.

For instance, where a bidding is going on for an item with a reserve bid of N300,000 and other people are offering N350,000 to N500,000 and out of the blue you will see somebody from no where offering N5 million to N8 million.

Such person is obviously a joker who think we are playing around; because the rule stated that in the process the most highest bidder can't pay within five days, the item returns to the second most astounding bidder.

"So what these individuals have done is to combine themselves up, where one individual offers sensibly say N400,000 for an item with a reserved bid of N200,000, the other drops an outrageous figure like N8 million just to avert potential bidders.

"We know the vehicle is not worth portion of that sum in the market. This is unjustifiable," Attah said.

Attah said that the administration would be reprogram the platform such that one cannot bid more than a specific rate of the reserved bid or what the normal bidders are putting forth.

He said the framework would not enable any bidder to make such overstated offers, including that the platform would recognize the bidders with their Tax Identification Number (TIN).

"Those bidder will never again take an interest in future offer beside gambling of arraignment for such act.

"Once more, the platform is being reinvented such that when the winner neglects to pay in five days, the items will return into the pool for new bidding, rather than heading off to the second most astounding bidder.
