The Abuja civil servant (FCT) on Wednesday approached the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) to suspend the ongoing e-auction facing challenges and inability to access the platform.
They said the suspension would empower the Federal Inland Revenue service (FIRS) to combine the Joint Tax Board (JTB) Tax Identification Number (TIN) in the platform.
Some of the workers told the media that the JTB TIN, which was generally utilized by civil servants, was not being acknowledged by the Customs e-auction platform.
As per them, this makes it stressful for JTB TIN users to partake in the excise. "So they should suspend the exercise to empower FIRS to coordinate JTB TIN into Customs e-auction platform to give all Nigerians equal rights," they said.
One of the workers, Solomon Oluwaseun, tragically said even as a registered tax payer he was unable to participate in the excise.

"The customs ought to suspend the e-auction ortal until they confirm the TIN of all tax payers, including the government employees (civil servants).
"As a Nigerian we all have equal rights as tax payer to partake in this customs e-auction platform," he said.
Another government worker, Mrs Florence Okeke, likewise confirm difficulties, which she had experienced with the JTB.
"I noticed that the NCS portal only work with the old FIRS TIN and those issued to privately owned businesses. This is out of line," Okeke said.
She seek the FIRS to generate taxes and furthermore guarantee that all the tax payers benefit from the e-auction platform.
"We as Nigerians all need to make the best decision at the ideal time," she included.
As per Mrs Elizabeth Aleburu, "I think FIRS and Customs need to cooperate and amend this pending issues of JTB TIN."
Suleiman Abdullahi asked, "As a tax payer, Is it right not to participate?
Abdullahi said that he had attempted to use his JTB TIN but unable to connect.
