Finally Court Orders Forfeiture of Imported goods to FG

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday has stamped the standing forfeiture of different illegal foreign products worth N50, 151,606 to the Federal Government.

Justice Abdulaziz Anka, made the request following an August 14 ex parte application documented by the Nigeria Customs Service.

The products, including bales of used cloths (OKRIKA), shoes, sacks, bed sheets, porcelain plates, 7,163 packs of parboiled rice, and 147 jerrycan of vegetable oil, were seized around April and June 2017.

In the application, the legal advisor induced the judge that there was an urgent need to arrange the forfeiture of the products since some of them were perishable.

In a 15-paragraph affidavit, Bodinga said the products were imported in rupture of Section 46(c) of the Customs and Management Act.
