PDP-Nigerians must not pay for customs corruption, on Import Duties Failures

He blamed the APC government for permitting individuals like the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service to execute disagreeable strategies like the payment of duties by vehicle owners‎ who purchased their vehicles years back.

Bauchi State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) drove government against executing anti-people policies‎.

State reputation secretary of‎ the party, Yayanuwa Zainabari decided on Thursday while responding to the arrangement by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to urge auto dealers in the nation to pay  duties on their vehicles.

He blamed the APC government for permitting individuals like the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service to execute disagreeable strategies like the payment of duties by vehicle owners‎ who purchased their vehicles years back.

"By what means can a sensible government drive a man who purchased a vehicle more than five years from a dealer to pay duty on that vehicle? A few people don't realize what the duty is, they just have the cash and purchased the vehicles for a reason while some were even given the vehicles.

‎"Owners of vehicles shouldn't have minimum business to do with a vehicles duty since they are not the dealer, they just purchased from the dealer. Where were the customs when the vehicles were imported into the nation. What I find in this approach is that Nigerians will pay for the debasement executed by the Nigerian Customs by permitting vehicles to enter the nation without duty payment,"he said.

He included that as opposed to acquiring a strategy that will additionally intensify the hardship‎s of Nigerians, the NCS ought to rinse itself and concentrate more on the requirement of different strategies that will guarantee the development of indigenous ventures and lift the economy.

"Owning an auto by most Nigerians is not an extravagance but rather a need. In the event that the customs are not kidding about raising it's income base through stringent vehicles duties it can do it without placing Nigerians in more hardship. They can mutiply the duties of costly vehicles coming into the nation. Period,"he included. The PDP representative noticed that notwithstanding the goodwill of Nigerians Buhari has been getting a charge out of, the strategies of his legislature are placing Nigerians into more hardship.

He in this way encourage the president to caution his lieutenants to evade strategies that will pitch the masses against his legislature.
