Truck Driver Shot Dead by Police Officer in Tincan Island



Port operations were disturbed at the Tin Can Island Port Complex (TCIPC) on Thursday 9th of march 2017, where unrecognized police officer shot a truck driver essentially

recognized as Alhaji Dan Jos.

The officer is appended to the Roro division of the Nigerian Police Force at Tin Can Island Port.


Individuals from the Road Transport Employee Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Tin Can Chapter, are in any case, requesting that the officer included ought to be distinguished and punished.

As indicated by an observer, the police officer shot Dan Jos after he questioned the officer for urinating on a truck stopped in the truck carport at the port.

"After the cop was questioned, he called his partners who originated from the Roro division with arms which he used to shoot the truck driver.

"The cop was urinating on one of our trucks when Alhaji tested him, it later prompted to fight and he called his partner from the division who came and shot Alhaji in the thigh."

RTEAN Chairman, Tin Can Port, Isiaka Olalere, confirmed that one of his individuals was shot in the thigh by the police.

"I have quite recently been told now that one of my individuals has been shot by a police, I'm setting off to the carport to put everything under control," Olalere said.

The Public Relations Officer of the Maritime Command, ASP Sadik Olatunde, said he didn't know about the emergency at the port.

He also guaranteed to get crosswise over to the Divisional Police Officer to stem the crisis.

"I will get crosswise over to the DPO at the order to put everything under control," He said Olatunde.
