Customs Officials Allegedly Kill Driver In Ogun State


Customs Justifies Raid On Warehouses Suspected For Smuggled Goods There was disorder in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, as agents of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) professedly gave dead a business driver while seeking after speculated dealers.

The Customs officers were said to have slaughtered Saubana Onila, a father of four, at Sowo town, along the Kobape-Siun-Sagamu road when he was passing on packs of rice to a few clients in Sagamu.

Accordingly of this advancement, scores of dissidents raged the state home office of the NCS along Quarry Road in Abeokuta, undermining to dump the remaining parts of the late transporter inside the premises.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ogun state Area Command, Usman Abubakar, however denied that the cases that the Customs murdered anyone in the operation.

Abubakar kept up that the importation of rice through the land outskirt had been prohibited, encouraging individuals from the general population to support the organization in the battle against smuggling.

He told the media that examination concerning the episode was progressing.


"The data available to me is that one of our watch groups went on routine watch at the beginning of today along Kobape-Sagamu Interchange. In view of sound data to them that a few smuggler were getting through the border, they waylaid thesmugglers.

"On locating Customs vehicle, the tenants of those vehicles now began on top speed. Over the span of the operation, one of the vehicles fell into a discard. The inhabitants of that vehicle left and fled. Our men now conveyed the vehicle down to Abeokuta station. Thus, that is the data I have.
