The Nigerian Customs service on Thursday gave a one-month grace period for all vehicles in the nation whose customs duties have not been paid to avoid being seized.
The comptroller General of Customs, Hameed Ali, a resigned Armed force colonel, who affirmed the grace period of time, said it would last between Monday, march 13 and Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
Thus, acting Customs spokesman (PRO) , Joseph Attah, said every car dealers and private owners of such vehicles were encouraged to visit the closest Customs Zonal Office to pay up the normal Customs duties on such defaulting vehicles.
Mr. Attah said such installment should be possible in the four zonal workplaces of the Nigeria Customs Benefit, including Zone A Home office, No. 1 Harvey Street, Yaba, Lagos; Zone B Central command, Kabala Doki, Kaduna; Zone C Home office, Nigeria Ports Specialist, Port Harcourt, and Zone D Base camp, Yelwa Tudu Street, Bauchi State.
He said the comptroller general of custom (CGC) approached all people possessing such vehicles to exploit the grace time frame to pay suitable duties on them, as there would be a forceful anti-smuggling operation to seize and in addition deal with owners of such vehicles after the due date.
"For the shirking of uncertainty, all private auto proprietors who don't know of the validness of their vehicles Customs reports can likewise approach the Zonal Workplaces to check with a view to agreeing to the arrangement of the law," Mr. Attah said.
